Smarter Bets Your Key to Better Luck

A Fast Company article uses gambling as a metaphor for risk-taking.  Well, is it?  I'm not sure I agree, but I can't argue with the advice:

1. Check your rearview mirror - i.e. learn from your mistakes.
2. Make your bets serve your goals - To which I say, Amen. Initiatives have to align with goals.
3. Spread your bets - Offset lower risk behavior with an occasional riskier undertaking. Risk and reward are often related.
4. Relieve your "I" strain - OK this one isn't self-apparent. "Share your risk with others.", is what they mean.
5. Know when to place a new bet - Remember survival of the fittest?  Know when to adapt.
